Moynalty/Carnaros 3-11 Dunderry 3-9

Moynalty/Carnaross claimed the Minor Football Tournament Group C final with two points to spare over Dunderry played on a perfect evening for football at Grangegodden.

Dunderry showed their intent immediately by getting on the score board but Moynalty/Carnaross rallied and took charge of scoring for most of the first half. Dunderry missed a few chances and a goal by Charlie Murphy brought Moynalty/Carnaross firmly in control. A further goal opportunity for Moynalty/Carnaross was unlucky not to convert but they finished the first half comfortably ahead on a scoreline of Moynalty/Carnaross 1-06 Dunderry 0-03.

The second half began tentatively with few scores to begin with. Then Dunderry hit scoring form and hammered home two goals in quick succession and quickly followed this by a point. Another goal for Dunderry and it looked like they were going to pull away convincingly.

Moynalty/Carnaross steadied themselves and a point and a goal saw Moynalty/Carnaross become competitive in the game again. A brace of points further reduced the deficit and this was to be followed by a decisive goal with less than 10 minutes to go putting Moynalty/Carnaross into a lead which they refused to relinquish. In a nail-biting last few minutes Paddy Morris picked up his second yellow card sending him to the line. It was with much relief that the final whistle was blown a few minutes later granting Moynalty/Carnaross a narrow hard fought two point victory.
