Ballinabrackey held the previously postponed game against Oldcastle in The Boyne Park and had a comfortable win.
Ballinabrackey hit the ground running with 5 unanswered points with great scores all coming from Barry Thompson, Seamus Curry and Niall Smullen. Oldcastle got their first score from a free and Seamus Curry was quick in response with a goal in the back of the net. Oldcastle kicked two more points and Niall Smullen kicked a point from play to leave the half time score as Ballinabrackey 1:06 Oldcastle 0:03.
A great ball into Barry Thompson allowed for him scoring a great point from the mark. Oldcastle broke through the defence and kicked a point from a free but Ballinabrackey came back with a string of scores coming from Niall Smullen and Erick Clancy. In the 20th minute of the second half Barry Thompson hit the back of the net after some excellent passes between Niall Smullen and Chris O’Connor. Oldcastle tried to fight against the momentum with a point from play but the Bracks came storming down the field which resulted in great scores from Gavin Quinn and Evan Daly. Oldcastle tried to keep the scores going in the final quarter and kicked two more points from play but it was our county man Sean Coffey who kicked the final score of the game to leave the final score as Ballinabrackey 2:14 to Oldcastle 0:07. Well done lads on a great win.
