Meath recorded a two point win over Derry at Owenbeg

After a surprise defeat to London last time out Meath senior hurlers got back on track with a win over table toppers Derry at Owenbeg in round 3 of the Christy Ring Cup.

The visitors were reduced to 14 men before the break when James Toher was red carded but Seoirse Bulfin’s men went in at half time 0-14 to 0-10 in front.

With 55 minutes gone the teams were level, Derry 1-16 Meath 0-19, before Nicky Potterton got the all important goal. Meath went on to record a 1-21 to 1-19 win.

The Kildalkey star finished with 1-2 while Padraig O’Hanrahan 0-6, Jack Regan 0-5 and Eamon O Donnchadha 0-4 contributed to a very good Meath win.

The Royals welcome Tyrone to Pairc Tailteann for round 4 on May 13th and complete the group the following week away to Sligo.

Ger O’Neill’s minor squad advanced to the Peadar Lehane Cup final with a comfortable 7-19 to 0-8 win over Wicklow at Abbottstown to set up a final date with Carlow next weekend. The yound Royals were 3-10 to 0-3 in front at the break.
