St. Michaels Lilly Kangley with Shannon Tevlin Gaeil Colmcille during the Ladies Division 7 FL clash at Carlanstown

St. Michaels 2-08, Gaeil Colmcille 3-05

St Michaels ladies second team shared the spoils on offer in a very entertaining and competitive match with neighbours Gaeil Colmcille in the Deerpark Carlanstown on Saturday last.

Aoife Bennett put in a player of the match performance as she bagged 1-6 of her side's tally to add to her overall play which was very impressive. The Kells side got off the mark with their opening two points after five minutes, Bennett soon opened her account with a hat-trick of points in an eight minute spell. Laura Duignan broke through the Gaeil Colmcilles defence to shoot low to the back of the net, this was soon cancelled out a minute later at the opposite end which left the home side a point to the good on the quarter hour mark. Duignan was put through by Chloe McDonnell and she made no mistake with a point. The visitors pulled one back to draw level but Lorraine Curtis gave her side a one point half time advantage with an excellent effort from play, 1-5 to 1-4.

The contest was set up for a great second half and that's exactly what happened as Gaeil Colmcille drew level four minutes into the new half, Bennett replied with three minors, the visitors added their second major and two minutes later they were three points to the good until Aoife Bennett capped a great afternoons work with a well struck major for a deserved draw.
