Navan O’Mahony’s 1-09 Donaghmore/Ashbourne 3-08

Donaghmore/Ashbourne proved too big an obstacle for Navan O’Mahony’s to overcome in Round 2 of the league. With the rain pouring down on St Patricks afternoon, it wasn’t pleasant conditions for a game.

Navan O’Mahony’s got off to a good start, scoring early on in the game. This was soon nullified by a point by the visitors. A high looping ball found its way to the Donaghmore/Ashbourne net but Donaghmore/Ashbourne soon reversed this lead. A penalty and a goal from play in quick succession put the visiting side in the lead.

Navan O’Mahony’s recovered well with good points from Neasa McDermott and Cara Ratty. At the interval, the score read:

The conditions worsened in the second half, as the children preparing to walk in the St Patricks day parade down the road can testify.  With only a point between the sides, it was all to play for. 

Donaghmore/Ashbourne  experience showed and they proved the better team for the last thirty minutes. They managed to tack on 1-06 in the second half compared to five points for the home side. Navan O’Mahony’s tried hard, but the two points on the day go to Donaghmore/Ashbourne
