Kildalkey NS 1-10 Baconstown NS 2-4

Kildalkey produced an outstanding second half display to claim their second Allianz Meath Cumann na mBunscol Boys Division 2 football title in the last game of the day at Pairc Tailteann. PHOTOS

The two number 11’s Rhys King (Baconstown) and DJ McCarthy (Kildalkey) exchanged a brace of points in the opening ten minutes. Cormac Prior added to the winners tally with two fine points before Baconstown hit a purple patch. King got his third score and full forward Eoghan Casey followed up with two quick fire goals. The team in Maroon went in at half time 2-3 to 0-5 in front.

Kildalkey, whose only other football title came in 2017, went about reducing that lead with points from captain Henry Muldoon (2) Casey and Kealan Sheeran and the game was all square after ten minutes in the second half. A Cillian Davis goal soon after put the boys in blue and white in front. Sean Enright registered Baconstown only score of the half after twenty minutes but Casey replied with his third point of the day and the last score of the game to seal the win for Nodlag O’Neill-Forde’s charges.
