Oisin Martin Wolfe Tones

Bhulf Ton 0-8 St Vincents/ Curraha 1-9 in Pairc Mhic Eoin Kilberry

Ni raibh morán idir na foirne sa chluiche leathcheannais seo i bPáirc Mhic Eoin agus bhi na foirne ar chomhscór ag leath am 0 04 araon. Le 1 05 gan freagra díreach i ndiaidh leathama bhi an buntaiste  ag na cuairteoirí as sin amach. Rinne Bhulf Ton an iarracht teacht aniar agus bhi cúpla seansanna ar chuil nar thóg siad ach le cosaint laidir bhi an lá ag Vincents/ Curraha.

Trailing by 2 points in the dying minutes Tones applied a lot of pressure but the scores they needed didn’t materialise and St Vincents Curraha hit the last two points of the game to pull off an impressive victory. Tones enjoyed plenty of possession but would rue several missed goal chances. Alex Penny and Ríoghan Ó Beaglaíoch were denied by the woodwork while the Vincents Curraha keeper saved brilliantly from Ben Reilly who had been put through by Ríoghan O Beaglaíoch. The teams were level on 0 04 a piece at half time but the visitors hit 1 02 without reply on the resumption of play to leave Tones playing catch up thereafter. Tones reduced the margin to 2 points thanks to points from Oisin Martin Sean Penny and Joe Smith (2) but couldn’t find the scores they needed.

This match brought the curtain down on Tones football season and on the 3 year reign of Micheál Mc Dermott which had brought such success, with a Keegan Cup win and u 20 A title in 2021 with Tones also reaching two Feis cup finals. After the game Micheal bid an emotional farewell to the panel of players who showed their appreciation by giving Mícheal a guard of honour as he left the pitch. We wish him well with new club Celbridge.
