In perfect conditions the teams served up a very entertaining game with the issue in doubt to the final whistle. Tones had a seven point lead after twenty minutes but they lost their way and they trailed by 4 points with minutes remaining and had to dig deep to eke out a draw.

They might have snatched it at the end but Niall O Reilly’s last minute shot just fell short minutes after the same player levelled matters. Tones led by 0 10 to 0 05 at half time but even though they enjoyed plenty of possession on the restart. They didn’t score until the second quarter with a fine solo goal from Oisin Martin.

The teams were level on 1 10 each and 1 11 each. ‘Cilles burst of 4 unanswered points seemed to have earned them victory before that late Tones surge, yielding a goal from Adam O Neill and a point from Niall O Reilly.
