Nobber 2-12 Bective 1-8
Nobber got back on track in their Intermediate Championship campaign with victory over Bective in a sunny Castletown under perfect conditions.
The green and white of Bective took an early lead and were leading by 2 – 0 after 13 minutes of play. The game was dominated by a very unfortunate incident where Nobber full forward Karl Casserly suffered a very serious knee injury on the stand side of the pitch prior to the first water break. Anthony Monaghan’s charges finished the first half strongly with some superb kicking from Jack Contra (0 – 3), Dale Larkin (0 – 2) and Jordan Morris (0 – 1). Nobber went into the half-time break leading 0 – 6 v 0 – 4.
The sides continued to exchange scores over the third quarter with Sean Meade, Larkin and Morris keeping the North Meath men ticking over on the scoreboard. There was a long delay at the second half water break while an ambulance arrived for the injury of Karl Casserly. The game was in the melting pot as Nobber led by a single score .0 – 9 v 0 – 8 with less than 10 minutes to play. That was to be Bective’s last score apart from a consolation goal at the very end of the game. Nobber’s defence led by Barry Cassidy and Niall Farrell closed out the attacks from the Navan side. Nobber were determined to pick up the two points and finished the game in style with goals from Jordan Morris and Sean Meade and a notable contribution from the bench. The black and ambers overall had a very good team performance with Barry Cassidy and Dean Halpin excelling in defence along with Larkin, Contra and Morris up front.
All at Nobber GFC would like to wish Karl Casserly a speedy recovery. Next up for Nobber is St Patrick’s in two weeks’ time.
