It is with sadness that we report the passing of Ken Woods who was part of the Meath minor football squad that contested the 1988 Leinster final against Dublin. Ken, who played minor football with Duleek, lined out at corner back in that provincial decider as the Royals went under to a very strong Dublin outfit. He was also part of the Duleek team that reached the Division 2 FL final in 1987.
Donaghmore Ashbourne took to social media to pay tribute.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of club member Ken Woods.
Ken was a past player and indeed won a Junior hurling title with the club in 1989 where he played at midfield as we defeated Athboy in the final.
Ken was also a fine footballer and had the honour of playing for the Meath minor football team in the 1988 Leinster minor football final.
In recent years Ken was a great help on committees within the club and brought honesty and integrity to all meetings.
Ken's children, Alfie and Leah currently play in our go games section and he took great pride in watching them play and train and was always there to offer assistance to mentors.
While working with John Paul Construction Ken was instrumental in the development of our current facilities in Killegland.
We offer our sincere condolences to his wife Trish, children Alfie and Leah, father Alfred, brothers (past players) Michael and Noel, sisters Angela and Kathryn and his extended family and friends.
