Unprecedented quiet times on the GAA front and with no return on the horizon because of Covid-19 we have come up with a novel way to keeping your Royal GAA mind occupied.
Since 1987 we have won four All-Ireland finals. You the reader can have a say in picking our Best XV from that glorious era.
With just two position to go here's another one of those very tricky positions to decide on. Three men wore the number 14 jersey in our last four All Ireland wins.
Many will argue that Meath would not have been the powerhouse they were from '86 to '94 without the services of Brian Stafford. The Kilmainhamwood star never failed from frees or play and his scoring tallies were crucial to those All Ireland success's in '87 and '88. 'Staff' ended a glittering career with 2 All Irelands, 5 Leinster's, 3 NFL's and 3 All Stars.
It was the stuff of dreams for Brendan Reilly, kicking the winning score in the All Ireland final replay against Mayo. Who will ever forget that glorious point from the Hill 16/Cusack Stand corner to finally dash Mayo hopes. The Dunboyne star who played in defence in the '91 decider against Down has won very honour in the game and should have picked up an All Star in 1996.
We have already covered Graham Geraghty, who led the Royals to All Ireland glory, from the full forward position against Cork in '99. One of Meath's finest, he was at half forward in the 1996 win over Mayo. The Seneschalstown star could literally play anywhere and has won every honour in the game.
