IFC: Castletown's unbeaten run comes to an end

Trim won this top of the table Group B clash in Ballinlough on Sunday and there ended Castletowns championship unbeaten run. 

After coming from eight points down in the first half Castletown led at halftime by one point. But for Castletown scoring 2 points in the first four minutes of the second half was never going to be enough as they failed to raise another flag in this period. 

Castletown's first score came on 8 minutes a pointed free from Kevin Ross but they were 3 point down at that stage. Trim then scored 1-3 in a row to go that 8 points clear with 16 minutes played. Castletown then hit a purple patch scoring 1-6, Darren Finney got 3 points one from play and two frees, 2 frees from Kevin Ross, a point from play for Killian Price and a goal for Mark Kelly when Kevin Ross pounced on the Trim keepers mistake from a kick out and passed to him to place the ball by the keeper to leave it 1-7 for Castletown to 1-6 for Trim at halftime.

The early minutes of the second half went Castletowns way with 2 points one from a free for Darren Finney and one from play for Mark Kelly to leave Castletown 3 point up on 34 minutes. Then there was a period of 9 minutes without a score from either sides before Trim took over proceedings scoring 1-6 to finish out the game winning by 6 points. 

Castletown now face Meath Hill in the quarter final which will be a mouth watering tie on the weekend of the 28th and 29th of September.
