Our Best XV from round 2 of the hurling championship

Round 2 of the hurling championship came to a conclusion on Tuesday night. Here are the XV that got our eye.

1. Stephen Quinn (Killyon):

Vintage performance by the Killyon goalkeeper, which included a crucial penalty save.

2. Joey Stenson (Longwood):

Another solid display as Ryan O’Dwyer’s charges pushed the defending champions all the way.

3. Simon Ennis (Rathmolyon):

Dealt with every ball that came into near perfection with a cool and calm head, distribution of the ball was excellent every time. Didn't put a foot wrong all game. Showed experience years beyond his age.

4. David Conneely (Kildalkey):

One of the tightest marking defenders in the county who helped curtail the threat of the Ratoath forwards.

5. Brín Kelly (Kildalkey):

Strong in the tackle and not afraid to push forward setting up a number of Kildalkey attacks during that win over Ratoath

6. Darren Kelly (Ratoath):

Scored 0-05, three from play and always seemed to be in space, reading the game very well

7. Sean Geraghty (Kilskyre/Moylagh):

A steady influence at the heart of the engine room as Kilskyre/Moylagh picked up their first win of the campaign

8. Damien Healy (Longwood):

A driving force in the second half, chipping in with 0-03 in that narrow defeat to Kiltale

9. Padraig Byrne (Ratoath):

Strong running at the heart of the Kildalkey defence caused huge problems for the village. Impressive display by the youngster

10. Barry Slevin (Na Fianna):

The county man set the tone by pointing inside the first 20 seconds and pulled the strings as the Enfield outfit pulled of a deserved win over Kilmessan

11. Jack Regan (Kiltale):

More than ever his scores got Kiltale over the line, 0-14 on this occasion for the in-form forward

12. Eamon Ó Donnchadha (Clann na nGael):

His direct running is going to cause serious problems for defences in the IHC; tormenting Wolfe Tones at times

13. Nicholas Potterton (Kildalkey):

Really stood up to the plate when his side needed him most, scoring 0-04, three from play and setting up numerous scores in the second half

14. Gavin McGowan (Ratoath):

1-04 from play and caused panic in the Kildalkey defence anytime he had the ball in his hand. Will trouble any defence with the right supply into him

15. Mark Slevin (Na Fianna):

2-02 from play as Na Fianna enjoyed one of their biggest results for some time
