St Michaels hosted Oldcastle in Carlanstown. While it was a close first half the visitors pushed on in the second half running out 2.17 to 1.9 winners.
Na Fianna and Dunboyne both had first round wins under their belt but it was Dunboyne who maintained their record on the Rooske road with a 3.15 to 2.7 victory.
Rivalries renewed as Simonstown overcame Seneschalstown 3.9 to 1.11 with a late goal to push them over the line.
St Ultans came to Kilmurray to take on Boardsmill. With some great young talent, they were unable to match the Mill who ran out comfortable winner.
