Ballivor 2-11 St.Vincents 0-10

Ballivor travelled to Dunshaughlin on Saturday afternoon to face St.Vincents in the last round of the group stage and left with the victory that gaurennteed top stop in the group.

It was an unusual seen as the game started as the Ballivor men lined up in the green and gold jerseys of Meath due to a clash of colours with St.Vincents.

It was Vincents who where first on the scoreboard with a point in the first minute. That score was quickly responded to by a Brendan McKeon point. Ballivor were now coming to terms with the physicality of Vincents and two fine points from Adam Gannon had the score 0-3 to 0-1. Ballivor were moving the ball well but both teams were tigerish in there defending and possession was hard earned. Ballivor extended the lead further when after nice build up play Martin Healy cooling slotted over and Brendan McKeon followed up that score with a fine effort from a tight angle. In the 18th minute Vincents got there second point and three minutes later reduced the margin further with their third point of the game to leave the score 0-5 to 0-3 to Ballivor.

But in injury time in the first half Ballivor pulled away. Following a flowing move that result in a free Brendan McKeon pointed. Then came the opening goal, as Vincents attacked Ballivor dispossessed them and started to attack quick hand passing and running off the shoulder left Nicky Potterton bearing down on the Vincents goal and the Ballivor corner forward finished cynically to the bottom corner to leave the halftime score Ballivor 1-06 St.Vincents 0-03.

If the Ballivor goal before halftime wasn't a hammer blow to Vincents, Ballivor delivered that blow in the first minute of the second half when Martin Healy received possession in space and cooly finished to the Vincents net. Ballivor were now nine points up and in control off the game. Vincents added two quick points before great work from Nicky Potterton led to him firing over the crossbar. Ballivor were able to keep Vincents at arms length and kept the score board ticking over with two Brendan McKeon frees and and long range Adam Gannon point finishing off the Ballivor scoring as both teams traded points late on.

It was a much deserved victory for Ballivor against a dogged and hard hitting Vincents side. Ballivor now head to a quarter final against Dunshaughlin
