Castlebar Mitchels are proudly celebrating the 125th anniversary of the founding of our club in 2010. This makes us one of the oldest clubs in the county. A full programme of events is being planned during 2010 to commemorate the great milestone in our club's history. This will be announced at the official launch on Friday 12th February in our clubhouse at an Sportlann.
Late last year, at the club AGM a special subcommittee was established to plan for our 125th year celebrations. Club members from all sections within the club have come together to form the subcommittee. The members of the subcommittee are Finian Joyce, Martin Moran, Jody Munnelly, Gerry Henry, Des McGowan, Patsy Horkan, Tommy Quigley, Leo Doherty, Noel Byrne, Matt Flynn, Michael Gallagher, John Lyons, Paul Flynn, Richie Feeney, Ger Murphy and Martin Coleman. After a couple of months of hard work, the club is now ready to launch its full programme of events in An Sportlann on Friday next 12th February.
All club members, former members and the local community are welcome to come along on the night to the official launch. All involved in the club are looking forward to an exciting year ahead. We would like to encourage all club supporters and the local community to participate in the various activities during the year. The highlights of the year will be the official opening of our new club pitches and facilities which will be performed by Christy Cooney, Uachtaran, Cumann Luthchleas Gael. To round off the year's activities a special Gala 125 Dinner will be held on Saturday 11th December (the exact date of the founding of our club).
More details will be announced at the official launch. Further updates on all the club's 125 year activities will be available in the clubhouse, on our club website www.castlebarmitchels.com and in the local media. Watch out for further details.
