Tomorrow’s Mayo senior football championship final has been postponed due to expected bad weather.

Holders Ballina Stephenites and Knockmore were set to cross swords for the Paddy Moclair Cup at Hastings Insurance McHale Park at 2.30pm on Sunday.

However, with a status orange wind warning issued for Mayo and Galway tomorrow as a result of Storm Ashley, Mayo county board made the call last night to postpone the Castlebar fixture due to player and supporter safety.

"Following an emergency Mayo GAA County Board officers meeting this evening, Mayo GAA Cathaoirleach Seamus Tuohy said player and supporter safety are the priorities and postposing the County Football Final this Sunday is the correct decision for all concerned," Mayo GAA said.

"After consultation with both clubs, the Mayo GAA CCC has now rescheduled the game for next Saturday, October 26th at 7pm in Hastings Insurance MacHale Park."

Tickets purchased ahead of the game and for the Mayo GAA TV live stream will be honoured for next Saturday.
