2013 All-Ireland minor football winning manager Enda Gilvarry has taken the reins of Ballintubber in Mayo.
Ballintubber’s bid for a third Mayo SFC title on the bounce was derailed at the quarter-final stage last year when they were defeated by eventual winners Knockmore and since then Kevin Johnson, who guided the club to senior championship triumphs in 2018 and 2019, has stepped down.
Gilvarry has been selected to fill the vacancy of senior manager at the club and it will see him with county men Cillian and Diarmuid O’Connor, Michael Plunkett and Bryan Walsh at his disposal for 2021.
Diarmuid O’Connor and Plunkett were part of the Mayo side which Gilvarry guided to victory over Tyrone in the 2013 All-Ireland MFC final, ending the county’s 28-year wait for the Tom Markham Cup.
