Kiltane retain Mayo GAA senior Comórtas title
Cill tSeadhna 7-12
Tuar Mhic Éadaigh 3-04
A rampant Cill tSeadhna sailed past Tuar Mhic Éadaigh in the Mayo GAA Comórtas Peile na Gaeltachta senior final at Belmullet GAA grounds over the weekend. The Erris men played some outstanding football over the two days and with Mickey Sweeney and young Tommy Conroy shinning up front the Bangor boys had it pretty much all their own way in the final. Leading 4-08 to 0-01 at the break in the final, Cill tSeadhna strode to victory. The opening exchanges were all one way traffic, Conroy twice, Sweeney and Shane Lindsey all found the net before Tuar Mhic Éadaigh had drawn their second breathe. Excellent long range points followed from Sean Gaughan, Edmund Barrett, Jason Healy and Stephen Gallagher. Tuar Mhic Éadaigh's only score in the opening half coming from the boot of Kevin Dolan right on the stroke of half time. Playing with the aide of a strong breeze in the second half, Tour Mhic Éadaigh rallied and dug deep to narrow the gap. Niall Donoghue and full back David Prendergast hit two great goals early on with Dolan and substitute Brain Heneghan landing long range points. Prendergast moving from his full back berth to midfield steadiest the ship somewhat but it was only a matter of time before Cill tSeadhna responded and when they did it was clinical. Stalwart Sean Carey was first to pounce on a breaking ball and blasted the ball to the net for goal number midway out and then Shane Lindsey hit a superb penalty to the roof of the net. Mickey Sweeney rounded off a great afternoon for the Erris men with his second goal just before the finish.

Cill Chomáin strike late to capture Mayo GAA Junior Comórtas title
Cill Chomáin 1-09
Cill tSeadhna 0-05
The Mayo GAA Comórtas junior final was a tense and keenly contested encounter with local rivals Cill tSeadhna and Cill Chomáin pushing hard for victory from early on. Cill tSeadhna dominated the opening half and with the aide of a strong breeze they had three points to spare at the break 0-05 to 0-02. Barry McAndrew was their key players during this period hitting four points with the other score coming from Stephen Gallagher. The blustery breeze was difficult to play against but Cill Chomáin did manage two fine scores in the opening half from James McAndrew and Derek Moran. The second half was hip and tuck all the way. Cill tSeadhna batted down the hatches against the breeze and were unlucky not to score a goal early on but Michéal Ó Moráin was alert and cleared his lines. Once Cill Chomáin got the score board ticking over, they never looked back. McAndrew was superb i lár na pairce and landed a great point with Brendan Moran coming off the bench to level the sides 0-05 a piece. The final quarter was hectic with both sides desperate for scores. Cill Chomáin however, had the edge now and with the strong breeze helping every attack they soon took control. McAndrew drove at Cill tSeadhna at every occasion and his fine individual goal with five to play was the crucial score.
