Div. 2 League: We suffered another heavy defeat last Sunday against our neighbours St. Josephs in Dromiskin. They were a far stronger team than us on the day and the game was over well before the final whistle. Can only say well done to the lads who played and kept going even when well behind on the scoreboard. Although it was the day of the All-Ireland hurling final I don’t think I have ever seen less there to support our team.

Team: Stuart Reynolds; Liam Kiernan, Conor Byrne, Jackie Agnew 0-3(2f); Emmet Byrne 0-2, Stuart Osbourne, Dean Corrigan; Conor Kiernan 0-1, Sean Cairns 0-1; Andrew Keenan, Evan Caldwell 0-1, Cian O’Dwyer; Paul McKeever 0-3, Ciaran O’Brien, Tadhg Kearney. Subs used; Jamie Murphy 0-1, Dara McDonnell, John McLoughlin, Sean Connolly 1-0.

Feile: The John West football Feile na nÓg for Co. Louth will take place this Saturday at three different venues in the county, Darver, DKIT and Paric Naomh Fechin. Each venue will be running two pitches simultaneously with first matches throwing in at 10am with the matches then taking place every 25 minutes thereafter. The matches will be 10 minutes each half, teams must switch immediately at half time and recommendation from the organising committee is that each player gets at least 30 minutes of football for each team during the tournament. There will be two groups of four in division’s 1 & 2, the top two teams from each group qualify for the semi-finals and these semi-final games will be 10 minutes a half. The final in each division will be 15 minutes a half and it is recommending all players take a packed lunch. St. Michaels/Lannleire will play in Darver in group 2 along with St. Marys, St.Fechins and N. Mairtin. First game against Naomh Mairtin @10am.

Div. 6 League: We played our last game in this division last Tuesday night and suffered a heavy defeat to the league leaders O’Raghallaighs who have not lost a game so far. They were a far stronger team and have won the competition with one game still to play. A few first’s happened on the night with two of our young players getting on the score sheet for the first time at adult level, well done to Dara McDonnell and Tadhg Kearney. We were also called “farmers in shorts” which is a new one to me! On behalf of the club we want to thank all the players for lining out especially the veterans who donned the boots yet again this season and also our selectors.

Team: John McLoughlin; Jamie Murphy, Conor Martin, Liam Kiernan; Stefan O’Hanrahan, Jack Saddlier, Brendan Saddlier; Conor Kiernan, Ciaran O’Brien 0-1; Andrew Keenan, Conor Culligan 0-2, Cian O’Dwyer 0-1(f); Dara McDonnell 0-1(f), Sean Cairns, Dean Stanfield 0-2. Subs David Neasy, Tadgh Kearney 0-1(f), Cian Geeney, Stephen Hoey, Paul McKeever 0-1.
