October 26, 2011

Louth's Ciaran Byrne takes on Meath's Anthony Forde during the Leinster MFC at Haggardstown.
Carlton are trying to tempt Louth minor star Ciaran Byrne into an AFL move.
The gifted St Mochtas youngster has been offered a two-year international rookie contract by the AFL club after impressing at a trial organised by Carlton at UL on Saturday.
However, the player - younger brother of Louth senior star Declan - will not join the Melbourne-based club this coming season as he still has another year of minor football ahead of him.
AFL clubs aren't allowed to sign GAA players until their minor commitments have been completed.
Byrne is the most exciting young talent in Wee County football, having scored freely as Louth marched to a Leinster MFC semi-final this year.
He was one of 16 players who turned up for the trial at the weekend. Others to attend included Dublin prodigy Ciaran Kilkenny, Cork's Barry O'Driscoll and Kildare pair Padraig Fogarty and Sean Hurley.
