COVID-19 Restrictions and GAA Activity: the easing of restrictions will allow for a return of club activities in the coming weeks. From 10 May, outdoor training for adults is permitted in pods of a maximum of 15 people. From 7 June, outdoor sports matches can recommence with no spectators present. We look forward to the return of action at Páirc na nGael in the coming weeks.
Public Masses and Easing of Restrictions: Following the easing of COVID-19 restrictions, in-person religious services are allowed to resume from 10 May, subject to a maximum attendance of 50 people in the Church. Our Parish Priest Fr Pat Lennon has announced that the first Mass under the new guidelines will be celebrated in St. Francis Xavier Church Moyne on Wednesday 12 May at 7pm, followed by the usual schedule of Masses in Legga on Friday (14 May) at 7pm, Moyne on Saturday at 7pm and Legga on Sunday at 11am. Fr Pat has asked you to note that weekday Masses have been designated to fulfil the Sunday obligation and so attendance at a Wednesday or Friday evening Mass has the same status as the weekend Masses. With attendances in both churches limited to 50, as many people as possible are asked to attend the weekday Masses so as to avoid people having to be turned away from weekend Masses. This system worked extremely well previously with attendances well spread out across the weekday and weekend Masses and your cooperation is requested once again please. Ushers will be on duty in both churches to help ensure the safety of those attending. A reminder that Masses can be viewed live online from from St. Francis Xavier Church on churchtv.ie/moyne and from Legga the address is churchtv.ie/legga The weekly Church Newsletter can be collected from Corrigans, Gortermone Stores or Moyne Stores and from both churches, which remain open during the day for private prayer.
Underage Training: From Monday 26 April, outdoor non-contact sports training for under 18s was allowed to resume following an easing of COVID-19 restrictions. Best of luck to our coaches and young players for a safe and enjoyable return to activity.
Local Sarcoma Cancer Funding Campaign: A group of local youths are raising money for the Irish Cancer Society and hope to raise awareness for the research of Sarcoma Cancer. The group took part in a virtual 5K run/walk over the weekend. Many are having their hair shaved or dyed yellow to represent their support for the funding campaign. They will be uploading their selfies to social media over the coming weeks. One of the organisers, Oisin Hagan, said on social media "Your contribution will make an impact, whether you donate a little or a lot. Anything helps. Thank you for your support. Together we prevent cancer, empower and support people, and save lives." Please visit either Oisin's or Dromard GAA's Facebook page for more details and pictures.
