Dromard Club Notes for issue dated Friday 5th of March 2021

GAA Congress: The GAA’s annual congress took place over the weekend with New York’s Larry McCarthy taking over as president from John Horan. A number of motions were passed at the meeting. Among the most significant was the decision to move All-Ireland finals to July from 2022. This will enable the introduction of a split intercountry and club season, the exact format of which is to be discussed later this year.

St Francis Dromard Minor Board AGM 2021:  We will be holding our 2021 AGM online on Sunday, March 7th, at 4 PM. We will discuss what happened in 2020 & together develop a plan for 2021 and beyond. Any club members wishing to attend, can you please send an email to [email protected] so that we can add you to the online meeting. Your attendance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Dromard Minor Board.

A reminder that Masses can be viewed live from St. Francis Xavier Church on Wednesday and Saturday evenings at 7pm and from St. Mary’s Church Legga on Friday evenings at 7pm and Sundays at 11am. The website address to view the Mass from Moyne church is churchtv.ie/moyne and for Legga the address is churchtv.ie/legga Fr Pat would like to remind you that anniversary Masses can be booked for Saturdays and Sundays. The weekly Church Newsletter can be collected from Corrigans, Gortermone Stores or Moyne Stores and from both churches, which remain open during the day for private prayer. Trocaire boxes are available for collection from both churches. This year Trocaire’s Lenten Campaign aims to help families affected by hardship and suffering in South Sudan.

St. Patrick’s National School: Enrolment for St. Patrick’s NS is now open. Please email the school at [email protected] if you would like an enrolment form to be posted out to you. The closing date for enrolment is Friday 5 March.

Walking Track: Its great to see our new walking track being used extensively. In the interests of health and safety, we ask all those using the track to walk in an anti-clockwise direction. Please be aware that the lights on the walkway turn off at 10pm each night. You are also asked to please remember when using the walking track to keep your dogs on a leash and clean up dog litter. Bicycles are not allowed on the track and ask your children not to take their bikes on the track. A donations box has been installed on the walkway for anyone who would like to make a contribution towards the lighting costs and ongoing maintenance of the track. Thank you.
