Recipes for Success 

We are on week three of our online Recipes for Success Campaign. This we are focusing on all things Lunch with videos, recipe inspiration and healthy eating posters. Please keep an eye out for these on our Twitter, Instagram and our Healthy Clubs Facebook group and share them online with your members using the #gaahealth and tag St. Angela’s College Sligo. Please see attached this week’s resource ‘Liven up your Lunch’ which can be shared with your members.   

  

PHA Regional Nutrition Webinars  

Are you interested in finding out more about food and nutrition for yourself or your family? Dietitians are taking these online workshops throughout April. Free and open to all, be sure to put the dates in your diary. See attached flyer for more details.

Wednesday 21st April- Healthy Club Webinar 7- 8.30pm, Responding to Racism educational Workshop  

The agenda will focus on 2 areas:  

1.       The educational content combines with governance procedures to guide GAA clubs on matters of best practise in preventative, proactive and responding to racism and discrimination.

Support is provided by a team of qualified mental health professionals, and all sessions are held in strict confidence through MyMind's own online platform. Text50808 provides a safe space where, via text messaging, you’re listened to by a trained Crisis Volunteer with whom you can share at your own pace. You’ll text back and forth, only sharing what you feel comfortable with. By asking questions, listening to you and responding with support, they will help you sort through your feelings until you both feel you are now in a calm, safe place. MyMind and 50808 have come together to provide this unique free webinar which will help you to find out more about each of the services, how to access them and what you can expect.

FitLine is a volunteer telephone line designed to help older people who want to feel a bit healthier, but perhaps don’t have the motivation, confidence or information on where or how to take that first step. The service is completely free. We’re encouraging people to free phone 1800 303 545 and learn more. After you’ve made the first call, a FitLine mentor will arrange a time to ring you every two weeks until you’re happy with your progress. FitLine mentors are volunteer older people who understand the challenges of getting active. They’ll give you information, advice and gentle encouragement to get moving. Engaging Men Webinar Series: Why Men's Health? 

You are invited to the first in a series of webinars focused on Engaging Men. The Why Men’s Health? webinar takes place on the 29th April from 12.00 – 13.00 and registration is here. HSE Health and Wellbeing, together with the Men’s Health Forum in Ireland, the Men’s Development Network and the Men’s Health Research Centre in IT Carlow will host this series of webinars which will bring you expert insights about the work and learning from the delivery to date of the HSE National Men’s Health Action Plan 'Healthy Ireland Men'. 

 

Killeedy GAA Club Mass Online, Saturday 24th April at 7pm

Fr. Tom Shanahan, Honorary President of the Killeedy GAA Club will launch the GAA year with an online Club Mass for the people of Killeedy and deceased members of the Club. It will be broadcast on Killeedy GAA Facebook page next Saturday evening at 7 pm. All players, parents, grandparents, club members and parishioners at home and abroad are invited to attend. Fr Tom Shanahan will broadcast mass from his base in the Abbey in Loughrea.

You can log onto Killeedy GAA facebook page or click on the live link that will be available from Saturday on the Killeedy GAA Members Whats App groups.  Please feel free to spread the word to family and friends and share the link.

Con & Annie Kirby Memorial Stakes Final 2021:

The Grand  Finale of the Con & Annie Kirby Memorial Stakes will be on after our Club Mass on Saturday, 24 April with Killeedy GAA’s greyhound, Singalong Sally running in the final.

 

The Semi-Finals of the Con & Annie Kirby Memorial Stakes took place last Saturday night in the Limerick Greyhound Stadium. Once more our nominated greyhound Singalong Sally qualified by coming home in 2nd place. Next weekend is the Grand Finale with 6 greyhounds still in the running. Singalong Sally will run from Trap 4 on Saturday, all 6 clubs are guaranteed to take home prize money. Updates on her progress can be followed on our club WhatsApp & on social media.

The Race can be viewed this Saturday for Free on Racing Post Greyhound TV - Sky Channel 437 or FreeSat 250.

Sponsored by JP McManus & family, this annual event is welcomed by all Limerick clubs with a €20,000 prize-fund on offer including €10,000 for the winning club.

 

Club Limerick Draw 2021:

The next Club Limerick Draw takes place this Saturday April 24th with another jackpot prize of €10,000 & a host of cash prizes up for grabs including an Exclusive Star Prize of a Weber Spirit II E 320 GBS Gas Barbecue plus €250 worth of free utensils. This will be the second of ten monthly draws which will run until December.

 

The Club Limerick Draw is one of our main fundraisers with 50% of the entrant fee returned to our own club. We strongly urge all club members to support this vital fundraiser & with such a wonderful selection of Exclusive Prizes on offer hopefully your luck is in for 2021.
