Munster GAA has announced funding of €1.3 million for club capital development projects in the province.
Twenty-six Cork clubs will share in €404,748, 22 Limerick clubs received €254,767 between them, 19 Clare clubs were approved for €230,521 between them, €225,013 is going to 19 successful applications from Tipperary, 15 Kerry clubs were awarded a combined €170,071, while eight Waterford clubs get €67,400 in total.
Munster Council agreed a budget of €1,362,520 for the grant scheme. €1,000,500 is donated by Central Council and the remaining €362,020 is contributed by the Munster Council. The Munster Council and the Central Council allocation funds category 1 – land purchase, category 2 – dressing room and gym developments, category 3 – refurbishment of handball courts & category 4 – pitch development, floodlighting & hurling wall developments.
Munster GAA Chairman Ger Ryan said: “I am delighted to announce the awarding of over €1.3 million in grants supporting 96 development projects throughout Munster. These grants have supported an impressive range of capital development projects, with Clubs investing over €10 million in upgrading their facilities.
“This level of expenditure is testament to the strength of the GAA in the Province and reflects the impressive vision of our Clubs to continually improve facilities for players and supporters alike.”
He added: “The grants provided would not be possible without the great support we get from the many thousands of people who attend our games each year. We are very fortunate to have such loyal support in the province, and we are delighted to be able to redistribute income from games to the clubs.”
