Gortletteragh club notes

September 22, 2021

2021 Connacht Gold Senior Championship:

Last weekend we bowed out of the senior championship having succumbed to the greater strength and expertise of reigning county champions in the quarter-final. We thank the players and management for an entertaining year of football, starting with the winning of the 2020 Intermediate Championship final and 2021 League final. We subsequently returned to senior ranks and after some tough battles progressed to the quarter-final. We look forward to 2022 where we hope to see a return of the fighting spirit we saw in this team in 2021. We wish Mohill the best of luck in the semi-final.

U13’s Shield Final:

Last week Rinn Gaels U13’s played Glencar-manor in the Div 1 Shield Final. Despite another display of good football and determination by these young lads, victory wasn’t to be theirs. The home side took the silverware on a final score of 2-19 to 2-03.

Corrib Oil Junior B Championship:

Next weekend we take on Seán Ó’hEislin’s in our second game of the Junior B Championship. This game is in Gortletteragh on Sunday 26thSeptember at 1pm.

Cathal Clancy & Mamie Reilly Tournaments:

The annual Cathal Clancy and Mamie Reilly tournaments for our U7, U9 and U11’s with their Cloone counterparts took place last Sunday. We had a wonderful turn out of young footballers and accompanying adults and a great few hours fun and entertainment was had by all. We extend our gratitude to Cathal Clancy and his family for coming along last Sunday and making the presentation to Cloone who won the U11’s tournament. Thanks also to Ronan Mulvey for being on hand to present the Mamie Reilly trophy to the Gortletteragh U9’s who were the winners at this level. Thanks to Cloone for participating in the tournaments and finally thank you to all our underage coaches who organised the event and to all who helped out with refreshments on the day.
