Dunsany 1-14 Kilcavan 1-10
A stunning second half fightback and a five star display from Eoin Harkin proved crucial as Dunsany booked their place in the Leinster Club Junior Football Championship final with four points to spare over Kilcavan at Pairc Tailteann. PHOTOS
The Laois champions dominated most of the opening half. Playing with the wind the visitors were 1-2 to 0-1 up at the end of the first quarter. A brace from Cian Ryle and an Adam Hunt goal put the men in maroon in control. Dunsany had midfielder James Cahill black carded on the 18th minute but five minutes later against the run of play the Meath men were in for a crucial goal, the outstanding Harkin setting up Luke Horan to leave it 1-3 to 1-1.
In the remaining eight minutes Kilcavan outscored Dunsany 0-4 to 0-2, the impressive Ryle (3) and Rory Lalor sending over to give the visitors a 1-7 to 1-3 interval lead.
Dunsany played with more intensity in the second half and by the 35th minute they had the game all square with scores from Harkin (3) and Jack Cottrell. Cottrell put his team ahead for the first time in the game with his second point. The sides were level again at the end of the third quarter before Kevin Cahill’s men made the push for home. Kris Gorman got his first of the afternoon and Harry Cahill pointed a 45. Ryle narrowed the lead to the minimum but in the remaining six minutes Dunsany added three points from Cotttrell, Cathal Murphy, Harry Cahill (45) to seal another memorable Leinster win.
Dunsany take on Ballinagar of Offaly in the final next weekend.
