Justin McNulty’s return to the Laois football hotseat has been dealt an immediate setback with the departure of three key players to Australia.

Colm Murphy, Paddy O’Sullivan and Robbie Piggott, who all won a three-in-a-row of county SFC titles with Portarlington in 2020, ’21 and ’22, are heading Down Under next week and won’t be available for selection in 2024.

“Colm, Paddy and Robbie were hugely influential members of the three-in-a-row winning senior team which gave us all so many great memories,” the club said in a Facebook post.

“All the best lads and hopefully we will see ye back in the Port’ jersey some day in the future.”
