Limerick back on track as Murray earns draw for Saffrons

Limerick's Josh Ryan and Ryan Murray of Antrim.

Limerick were full value for a battling 1-13 to 1-9 victory over Wicklow in the Allianz Football League at the County Grounds in Aughrim this afternoon.

The Treaty County bounced back from their third round defeat to Louth to regain top spot in the Division 3 table, pushing Colin Kelly's charges deeper into relegation trouble. Josh Ryan top scored with 1-4 for the winners.

Ryan and Eoin Darcy - via the penalty spot - traded goals in the first-half but it was Limerick who took a narrow 1-8 to 1-3 lead into half-time.

Limerick pushed on from the restart, and although they had Brian Donovan red carded, Billy Lee's side had enough to seal a third win.

In the later throw-in, Ryan Murray scored a point with the last kick of the game to earn Antrim a 1-8 apiece draw against Laois at MW Hire O'Moore Park after goalkeeper Matthew Byron seemed to have won it for the home side moments earlier.

The Saffrons built up a head of steam with the breeze early on to lead by 0-2 to 1-5 after 23 minutes, but Evan O'Carroll blasted a goal for Laois and the deficit was down to two points at the break, 1-4 to 1-6.

In a low scoring second-half, Eoin Lowry and Mick McCann traded points before debutant Byron edged Laois to the front. But Lamh Dhearg clubman Murray held his nerve to kick the equaliser.
