Laois manager Mike Quirke speaks to his players before the Leinster SFC quarter final clash against Westmeath at Portlaoise

Laois GAA are seeking nominations for the position of senior football manager.

The role has been vacant since Mike Quirke stepped down in the wake of a heavy Leinster SFC quarter-final defeat to Westmeath at the beginning of July. The former Kerry midfielder labelled the performance as "pathetic", while Laois were also relegated from Division 2 of the Allianz Football League following a win-less campaign.

Meanwhile, Seamus 'Cheddar' Plunkett is expected to continue as senior hurling manager for another season after his side retained both the Liam MacCarthy Cup and Allianz League Division 1 status. The midlanders' are expected to ratify their managers for 2022 on this day fortnight, September 13.
