KILDARE CAMOGIE LEAGUE FINALS SAT/SUN 18/19 MAY PLAYED AT DONORE
> Division 1 League Final. Johnstown Bridge 2-11 Celbridge 1-10 Sat 18th May
> Johnstown Bridge notched up their third in a row Kildare Camogie League titles when they defeated Celbridge, in what was ultimately an exciting final as, Celbridge fought back from a seemingly hopeless position to give the Bridge supporters some anxious moments towards the end. After full forward Ciara Mooney got Johnstown Bridge off the mark Siobhan Hurley quickly followed up with a pointed free. Celbridge's Susie O Carroll levelled with two points from frees before Hurley gave her team a platform to build on when her free from forty yards dipped under the Celbridge bar to give them a 1-2 to 0-2 lead with seven minutes gone. Hurley (0-5) and O Carroll ( 0-3) traded frees before the increasingly influential Louise Codd finished the scoring for the half with a point for the Bridge to give them a1-8 to 0-5 at half time.
> Celbridge needed a good start to the second half and they got it when Emma Barry pointed in the first minute and O Carroll pointed from a free to bring it back to a four point game. However The Bridge dominated the next ten minutes with points from Hurley and Codd before Mooney was on hand to capitalise from a goalmouth scramble to finish to the net to give her team what looked like a match winning lead. Celbridge seemed to spring to life at this stage and a goal from substitute Nicole Mc Donagh in the twenty first minute threw them a life line and three points from placed balls by O Carroll brought it back to a four point game with five minutes to go but try as both sides did that was the end of the scoring as both sets of backs stood firm to leave the Bridge celebrating a hat trick of League titles on a score line of 2-11 to 1-10.Johnstown Bridge understandably had many fine individual performances apart from those mentioned, Clodagh Flanagan as usual covered every blade of grass. Shona Farrell and Aisling Holton were superb in defence while sixteen year old Erin McEvoy did well in the full forward line. For Celbridge Susie O Carroll contributed to most of Celbridge's score while Emma Barry worked very hard in the forward line. Niamh Concannon really marshalled the defence while Angela Lyons contributed well at centre field.

> Naas claim Camogie Division 2 title with victory over neighbours Kill
> Naas:1-04, Kill 1-01 Sat 18th May
> Naas overcame neighbours Kill to claim this year's county Camogie League Division 2 title in damp and windy conditions at Donore last Saturday. The county town won a low scoring game by 1-4 to 1-1.T The league section of this competition finished the previous week and resulted in a three way tie for top honours between Moorefield, Naas and Kill. Naas defeated Moorefield for the right to meet Kill in the final. These two evenly matched teams have met on many occasions recently and have intimate knowledge of each other's game-plan and strengths. Scoring opportunities were always going to be limited, even more so given the conditions and with never more than one score between the teams, this game was in the balance right to the final whistle.
> Playing into the wind, Naas settled well and were first on the scoreboard with a Fiona Trant pointed free. With both full back lines dominant it took until the midpoint of the half for the next score to arrive, Kill responding with a goal when Sarah Cullen reacted quickest to despatch to the net with a fine ground strike. Into the second quarter and Naas reduced the score to a minimum with an excellent Katie Kelleghan effort on the run. Soon afterwards Kill's Gráine Temple measured the wind advantage perfectly to send over a long distance free to restore a two point advantage. Approaching half time Sarah Clancy replied with a very good score for Naas to again leave the minimum, 1-1 to 0-3 in favour of Kill, at the short whistle. The second half produced good efforts from both sides but just two scores. On ten minutes Trant sent a long wind assisted delivery to the Kill danger area where Maeve Leavey's presence proved a distraction to Allison Hyland in the Kill goal and the ball ended in the net. Trant was to add a pointed free before the end as Naas closed out for a victory, but not before Amy O'Hara and Sinead Keogh made crucial clearances as Kill surged forward in search of an equaliser. Following the final whistle, Naas captain Amy O'Hara received the cup on behalf of delighted teammates and supporters from Kildare Secretary, Hilda Breslin.

> SUNDAY 19TH MAY
>
> DIVISION 3 FINAL
> On what was a busy weekend on the domestic front for Kildare Camogie, Sunday saw the completion of three more Kildare League Finals.
> In the Division 3 Cup Final Rathcoffey squared up to Kilcock who fielded a first ever adult team in this year's competitions. Despite their inexperience Kilcock put up a spirited defence, going in at half time four points down, 2-4 to 2-0, with the Rathcoffey scores coming from goals by Deirdre Smullen and Stephanie Higgins and four points from their player of the match Shauna Mulligan, while Kilcock's goals came from Ellen Kinehan and Deirbhile Cahill.
> With the slight breeze and the hill to their advantage in the second half Rathcoffey dominated and put severe pressure on the Kilcock defence, who to their credit defended excellently and it was not until the tenth minute of the half that Rathcoffey registered their first score, a point from a penalty shot by Mulligan. However, slowly but surely, with the sliother rarely in the Rathcoffey defensive area they added on another five points, two from Mulligan, two from Smullen and a single from Leanne Brilly, to run out 2-10 to 2-0 winners.

> DIVISION 2 SHIELD FINAL
> Moorfield and Eire Og/Corrachil served up a very entertaining final to this competition with lots of honest endeavour and many fine individual performances on display. Eire Og/CC had the better of the first half and led by 1-4 to 0-3 at half time, thanks to a goal by Lynn Phelan, three points from play and frees from Lizzie Fitzsimmons and a point from Aine Mc Cormack, Moorfield's scores coming from Deirbhile Kelly (2) and Ciara Conaty (1).
> However the half time talk to the Moorfield girls must have done the trick as they came out a different team and quickly grabbed the initiative with three quick points from Kelly, Serena Donnoly and Fionnula Kelly. Further points from Conaty and Kelly pushed them into a one point lead before Fitzsimmons levelled it with a pointed free in the fifteenth minute. Moorfield were on a roll at this stage and finished out much the stronger with four more points from player of the match Kelly and one from Clodagh Cummins to which Eire Ogs only response was a further Fitzsimmons point from a free.
