Kildare are Christy Ring Cup champions for the second time in three years after overcoming Derry by 4-21 to 1-22 at Croke Park this afternoon.

Brian Dowling’s side got an early goal from Muiris Curtin six minutes in at HQ and another from Jack Sheridan (penalty) three minutes before the break to lead by 2-12 to 0-12 when the sides went in.

Derry battled after the turnaround to reduce their opponents’ lead to just one but couldn’t level the decider and the Lilywhites got motoring again with frees from Sheridan before David Qualter hammered in their third goal in the 49th minute.

The Leinster side were able to see it out from there, with James Burke’s 69th minute goal the icing on the cake as they booked themselves an immediate return to the Joe McDonagh Cup for 2025 after having been relegated last year.
