Kildare GAA have confirmed that redevelopment work on St Conleth’s Park, Newbridge is set to commence later this month.
The €17.5m refurbishment of Kildare’s county grounds will begin on March 27th and last for an 18-month period, with its re-opening anticipated in time for the 2024 county finals.
It means that alternative venues will have to be used for club championship games as well as Kildare’s home league fixtures.
Last night (Thursday) saw contracts signed at the Osprey Hotel in Naas on the long-awaited redevelopment for the Newbridge venue.
Kildare county board chairman Mick Gorman said: “It is a momentous day for County Kildare. We have been working on this Project for several years and have encountered many obstacles and delays compounded by Covid and rising inflation. We have persevered and have finally succeeded in achieving this significant milestone. This will be a major step forward for Kildare GAA and also for the town of Newbridge.”
