Legion heap more final misery on Crokes

Spare a thought for Dr Crokes who lost their fourth final of the year yesterday.

The hugely successful Killarney club's losing run in finals started on St Patrick's Day when they were overpowered by Corofin in the All-Ireland club SFC decider. That was followed six weeks later by another defeat to Austin Stacks in the Kerry senior club championship final after a four-year reign.

Crokes then switched their focus to winning a four-in-a-row of Kerry SFC titles, but once again they came up short against East Kerry in last month's decider.

And to rub salt into the wounds, they lost yesterday's rescheduled East Kerry O'Donoghue Cup SFC final to local rivals Legion at Fitzgerald Stadium. Former Footballer of the Year James O'Donoghue scored 0-4 for Legion who ran out 1-18 to 3-6 winners to end a 43-year wait for O'Donoghue Cup success.
