Bryan Sheehan wants Kerry to show a ‘ruthless’ streak in their remaining Championship games.
The former Kingdom captain and dead-ball specialist has urged Jack O’Connor’s men to go for goals – starting against Meath in Navan on Sunday – after failing to register any in the campaign to date.
Speaking to reporters at the launch of the 2024 Electric Ireland GAA Minor Championships earlier this week, Sheehan commented: "I think Kerry now need to start preparing themselves for knockout Championship football, I think they need to start getting ruthless.
"They need to start looking at every game as real Championship. They need to start building the blocks. I don't think they can coast along and say, 'We'll get through this because we've qualified'. I think they need now to start putting down a marker.
"I keep going back to Dublin. Dublin are always so ruthless, no matter who they are playing. They will always score one or two or three goals, just ruthless.
"And I think Kerry need to start getting in that mode now because if they start coasting or just try to get over the line against Meath, then all of a sudden you come to the knockout stages and you meet a good side who have come through one or two hard battles, you could be in trouble.”
