A Tomás Kennedy goal 90 seconds after the restart proved decisive as Kerry secured a third successive Munster U20FC title and 31st in all at Cork's expense in Austin Stack Park last evening.

The Kingdom prevailed by 1-15 to 0-12 to become the first winners of the new Noel Walsh Cup and qualify for an All-Ireland semi-final against Leinster champions Meath next week.

With the sun shining, the hosts took a 0-9 to 0-5 lead into the break after Cork had passed up on a number of scoring chances. Five unanswered points from Daniel Kirby (two), Odhran Ferris, Cormac Dillon (free), and Aidan Crowley left Kerry in a strong position before Kennedy's goal effectively put the game beyond Cork straight after half-time.

Trailing by 0-5 to 1-12, the Rebels fought back with scores from captain Hugh O'Connor, Gearoid Kearney and Ross Corkery ('45), but Tomás Ó Sé’s side weren't to be denied as Ryan Diggin and Cathal Brosnan came off the bench to slot insurance points.
