Tyrone lifted themselves from the bottom of the Allianz Football League Division 1 table with a crucial 1-15 to 2-9 win over holders Kerry in Omagh this afternoon.

In what was a tense encounter at Healy Park, it was the visitors that made the perfect start through Sean O’Shea’s goal after just two minutes.

However, after pulling off two fine saves off Conn Kilpatrick and Darragh Canavan efforts, Kerry ‘keeper Shane Ryan would put the ball into his own net and from there the sides went in level at the break on 1-7 apiece.

The All-Ireland champions hit the front again with a fantastic Paul Murphy goal on 46 minutes but the Reds were able to dig deep and recover.

Darragh Canavan, Darren McCurry and Mattie Donnelly sailed the points that saw them lead and they’d shutout the Kingdom at the other end in the closing quarter, as Ruairi Canavan came off the bench to shoot over a pair of frees that clinched the win.
