Five-time All-Ireland winner Tomás Ó Sé is set to join the Offaly senior football backroom team for the 2022 season.

RTE Sport reports that Ó Sé is set to work under manager John Maughan in what will be the Kerry legend’s first involvement in a coaching role within an inter-county set-up.

Having previously worked with UCC as a coach, the former Kingdom defender also oversaw the Glanmire senior, intermediate and minor teams in recent years, with the latter winning at Cork Premier level last year.

He comes into Maughan’s backroom team after the Faithful men earned promotion to Division 2 this season, while the county’s U20 footballers created history by capturing an All-Ireland football crown with victory over Roscommon at Croke Park last month.

Ó Sé will bring invaluable experience to the Offaly set-up, having enjoyed an illustrious career which saw him win five All-Ireland titles, as many All-Stars, and crowned Footballer of the Year in 2009 after the Kingdom’s Sam Maguire Cup triumph over Cork.
