Griffin calls time on Kerry career

Kerry's Tommy Griffin
Tommy Griffin has brought the curtain down on his illustrious Kerry football career after 12 seasons.
The 33-year-old Dingle clubman, who played in a variety of positions over the years before establishing himself at full back, has opted not to return to Jack O'Connor's squad after an injury-ravaged 2011. A combination of ankle and tendon problems forced him to sit out the entire season.
Griffin captured five All-Ireland senior medals with the Kingdom, two of which were won on the field of play. He was a substitute for the 2000, '04 and '07 successes, but started at midfield and full back respectively in the 2006 and 2009 deciders.
In addition, the versatile star won four Munster titles, three National Leagues and an All-Ireland U21 medal in 1998.
"I had my mind more or less made up before I met with Jack (on Saturday)," he told the Irish Examiner.
"It's the right time to hang up the boots. I don't think my body will let me go on!"
