Cork SHC: Bishopstown reach first final
September 17, 2012
County star Patrick Cronin hit 0-11 as Bishopstown qualified for their first Cork SHC final thanks to a 1-13 to 0-12 victory over Ballymartle at Pairc Ui Chaoimh yesterday.
Seven of Cronin's points came from placed balls on what was an historic day for the club. Their half-time lead of 0-9 to 0-6 didn't look sufficient after they had played with the aid of a strong wind, but with Cronin on fire and Robert Honohan finding the net, they went on to win by four points against a Ballymartle side who were left to rue 13 wides.
Bishopstown's final opponents in three weeks' time will be Sarsfields who defeated last year's runners-up CIT on a 3-11 to 0-14 scoreline. Goals from Robert O'Driscoll and Kieran Murphy had put the winners in control, but they only made sure of victory in injury-time when substitute Eoin O'Sullivan pounced for their third major.
