Leinster U21HC 'A': Westmeath cruise to facile win
June 28, 2012

Westmeath's Barry O'Meara gets away from Louth's Liam Blundell during the Leinster U21 A hurling championship at Cusack Park
Westmeath 7-27
Louth 0-2
Backboned by nearly a dozen members of their senior panel, Westmeath hammered Louth by 46 points in last night's Leinster U21HC 'A' quarter-final at Cusack Park.
Having competed strongly in the Leinster MHC in recent years, it seems strange that the Lake County are in this competition, and this game will be of little benefit to either them or Louth, who were completely overrun by Brian Hanley's men.
The writing was on the wall for the visitors when they trailed by 0-2 to 4-14 at the interval, with three of the Westmeath goals coming from corner forward Barry O'Mara. Louth's two points were scored by Brian Corcoran from frees.
The Wee County failed to score in the second half as O'Mara, Adam Price, Aaron Craige, Tommy Doyle and Cathal Scally continued to keep the scoreboard operator busy.
