Baker reappointed in Offaly

Offaly manager Ollie Baker
Ollie Baker was reappointed Offaly hurling manager for a second year at last night's county board meeting.

The 1995 and '97 Clare All-Ireland winning midfielder will need to find a new selector, however, after Paudge Mulhare stepped down. Former county star Mark Corrigan will be continuing as a selector.

Baker experienced a mixed first season in charge of the Faithful. After narrowly missing out on a place in the Allianz League Division 1B final, they defeated Wexford in the Leinster SHC before losing heavily to Galway in the semi-final. Offaly were subsequently knocked out of the All-Ireland race by Cork after a brave showing in Pairc Ui Chaoimh.

Last night's meeting also rubberstamped Emmett McDonnell's appointment as Offaly senior and U21 manager for the coming year. The Kinnegad man will announce his selectors in the next 10 days.
