Fixtures need to be addressed in Galway

Fixtures are a major issue in every county

Galway GAA secretary Seamus O’Grady has stressed that the need to address the fixtures issue within the county is greater than ever.

There is a common theme in every county at the moment as CCC’s try to find a solution to their fixtures problem that seem to be getting worse across the board, instead of better.

“We have to accommodate our club players,” The Connacht Tribune reports on O’Grady telling delegates at the county convention earlier this week.

“The fixtures calendar is certainly crowded at the moment and it’s something we’re going to have to address because we’re giving too many games to some of our players and not enough to others. At the end of the day, we have to accommodate as best we can, our club players.

“If we’re going to have our county players playing all year round, well then our club players, certainly in our main competitions are going to suffer.”
