Corofin landed back-to-back Galway senior football championship titles this afternoon thanks to a 2-9 to 0-9 victory over Moycullen at Tuam Stadium.
Kevin Johnson’s men had led by 0-4 to 0-3 in the 22nd minute when Jack McCabe capitalised on a mishit pass from ‘keeper Andrew Power and side-footed the ball into the Moycullen net.
From there, the holders raced towards a 1-6 to 0-4 interval lead and the second-half would see the sides exchanging three points each before Owen Gallagher’s point reduced the deficit for Moycullen with 10 minutes to go.
They’d get two more points on the board but a brilliant goal with two minutes remaining from Gary Sice, who won his 14th Galway SFC medal on this occasion, ensured that the Frank Fox Cup would be returning to Corofin.
