Mickey Graham has been confirmed as the new Galway senior football coach.

The news comes as no surprise after the Cavan man has been heavily linked with a role in Padraic Joyce's backroom team in recent days. Graham stepped down as Leitrim manager after only two months and joins the Galway set-up alongside Corofin's Dave Morris.

Following last night's county board meeting, Galway GAA also confirmed they have extended Joyce’s term as manager until 2026. Selectors John Concannon, John Divilly and Micheál Ó Domhnaill are also staying on with the Connacht champions.

Meanwhile, former Leitrim sharpshooter Emlyn Mulligan has criticised both Graham and the Leitrim county board over recent events.

Writing on ‘X’, Mulligan said: “Firstly, letting Andy Moran leave was the biggest mistake the county board could have made.

“Then not advertising the job and having this mentality of ‘Mickey or no one’ has really shot them in the foot. Huge setback but good riddance to him. Our players deserve better.”
