Beagh won this years Kilbeacanty 7 a Side tournament for the first time in their history. They have being in 15 finals before but this year they were not going to be stopped in claiming the Mccarthy Cup and €3,000 in prize money. The quarter finals were won by Beagh beating Ardrahan, Gort beating Laim Mellows by just the smallest of margins and the All Ireland Champions Clarinbridge needed extra time to see off a very determined Kilbeacanty side. Loughrea last years winners overcame St Thomas in the final Q final. This left a semi final pairing of Loughrea Vs Beagh in a repeat of last years final and Clarinbridge Vs Gort. The first semi final was very close and was won by eventual winners Beagh on a scoreline of 6-03 to 4-03 and Gort narrowly overcame clarinbridge to reach yet another final. Beagh then went onto beat Gort by 4 points in a very close and competitive game in the final. These two sides have a very important championship group game in a few weeks time and this provided the perfect curtain raiser to that fixture. The final had some excellent performers including Michael and Peter Cummins for Gort and for the winners Michael Geoghan and Kevin Keehan played well all throughout the day along with the Player of the tournament winner Padraigh Landers who scored 2-02 in the final.

Clarinbridge won the Joe Gillane Juvenile final for the second year in a row beating Michael Cusacks who were in the final for the very first time. They won It on a scoreline of 4-06 to 2-07.

The Kilbeacanty GAA club would sincerely like to thank all clubs who played in the tournament in what was one of the most competitive tournaments in years. It would also like to thank all who helped out on the day and in the lead up to the tournament including club members, referees and especially the BBQ staff. It would also like to thanks its tournament main sponsor Heineken Ireland and all other local sponsors.
