Kerins back in Galway fold

Galway's Alan Kerins
Alan Kerins has been recalled to the Galway hurling squad after a two-year absence.
The 34-year-old charity worker, who played a starring role for Clarenbridge in their All-Ireland club final triumph earlier this year, has accepted manager John McIntyre's invitation after it was confirmed that first-choice full forward Iarla Tannian will be sidelined for six weeks with a broken thumb and ruptured ligaments.
McIntyre has also lost the services of Niall Healy - who famously scored a hat-trick of goals in Galway's 2005 All-Ireland semi-final victory over Kilkenny - and Keith Kilkenny. Both have opted off the panel due to a lack of opportunities.
As well as recalling Kerins, McIntyre has also added midfielder Niall Cahalan - who was dropped just last week - to his squad ahead of next month's Leinster SHC opener against either Westmeath or Carlow.
Explaining his reasons for recalling Kerins, the manager said: "He is a naturally fit guy and he is in the form of his life at present."
