Maher seemed to be given a lot of freedom , after making the catch , to kick the ball in to the forward. A sickener for Moycullen but many games are decided in the last seconds. Not over until it's over.

Shame because until that goal it was a brilliant comeback from Moycullen.

Senior - Brids v Sligo in the Hyde. Salthill play Ballinamore don't know where. Winners of those games play each other. Meanwhile Castlebar play London Chanpions in the other semi. Seanfan (Roscommon) - Posts: 988 - 25/10/2026 22:55:43 2698550 Link 1 |

Surprised to see people saying it was a great advertisement for Galway football. I'm an outsider and thought it was pretty poor stuff. letsgosligo (Sligo) - Posts: 120 - 25/10/2026 23:48:29 2698554 Link 2 |

It was a great comeback, but I wouldn't call the winning goal a shame, unless it's from a Maigh Cuilinn point of view. For the neutrals it was an epic finish to the match, and overall a deserved win for Salthill I thought. It's mad what happens when teams just have to go for it.

Well I say a shame as I wanted Moycullen to win lol but from a neutrals point of view it was great stuff. And yeah over the course of the game the better team won. Seniorleague (Galway) - Posts: 402 - 26/10/2026 09:23:51 2698567 Link 0 |

What a performance from young Timmy Madden in the intermediate final yesterday, finished with 0-7 and MoM award. A minor last year, this is his first year playing adult football and to do that for your parish is the stuff dreams are made of. I think Caherlistrane will have enough to stay senior next year, good influx of young players, Richard McGrath and Evan Cunningham at the back look like county prospects. Still a sprinkle of the old heads there and a solid management team. Give them a couple of years and I think they could make a similar impact that Dunmore did a few years back. As for Spideal, you would feel sorry for them because their spine is aging and not much churn of youth coming in a part from Farthing who has stood out as we all hoped he would. An Spideal will be there abouts again next year but Oranmore are another year older and wiser, we all know they are coming. Litir Mor will want to bounce back quickly. MB will have all these Minor lads now eligible but they might need a couple of seasons in the dog fight to adjust. Well done Caherlistrane, a very difficult championship to win. Well done Caherlistrane. Delighted to see a rural team not making the same mistake so many others have made as a result of the sharp decline in numbers, in that they gave the youth priority over the great servants who were getting on a bit. They should indeed be able to hold their own in senior now. Happy to for Salthill who are probably the most "kick the ball" team in it. However, I think the Galway senior club championship was not that strong this year.

The wind died down a good bit during the first game. It was nowhere near a gale for most of both matches. It was pretty much a typical Pearse Stadium south westerly for much of the afternoon and evening. Caherlistrane keeper kicked a 45 with a good bit to spare against the wind. You don't do that into a gale. It was also blowing across, which made the kicks with it behind them tricky enough as well. The teams were definitely banking on the wind being a big factor, and probably played a bit too much to that instead of just playing what was in front of them.
