Is Reeves cup not the second string senior team? I don't think you can seriously compare it with Junior A. Can someone please name one player on Tommies Junior A team who might have any chance of making the seniors team?

What I have noticed because of poor hurling board decision making is ...alot of people watch the games live streaming in the pub. Have your glass of orange nice and cosy with a perfect view on the big screen. The hurling board lost about 2000 people for the Intermediate Quarter Finals double header in Gort two weeks ago 80 euro entrance fee for family of 4!! No doubt attendance will be way down this weekend for the separate Senior Semi Finals katser (Galway) - Posts: 2960 - 15/10/2026 11:01:09 2697386 Link 1 |

What was the attendance of the quarter finals compared to last years attendance? How did you arrive at a figure of 2000? Do many neutrals go to these games? MoroonMan (Galway) - Posts: 61 - 15/10/2026 12:12:33 2697403 Link 1 |

I imagine the county board have calculated that extra revenue will be generated by the live streaming of games over the 2 days rather than through extra bodies going through the turnstiles. The live streaming of games is a very big aspect of Galway GAA's income nowadays.

At least give them the respect of calling them hurlballers, to paraphrase your good self.

To paraphrase a former Garda Commissioner.."I find it absolutely disgusting " that the Co. Senior Semi Finals are not a double header in Kenny Park on Sunday and that the Reeves Cup and Junior A Finals are not a double header on Saturday. katser (Galway) - Posts: 2960 - 16/10/2026 13:36:29 2697538 Link 1 |

What is the price difference in streaming the two games on the same day as opposed to separate days? Didn't think of that- very sneaky if true

I don't think Tommy Larkins will worry about the venue or date now that they are into their first final since 1971 2-26 v 1-27 AET v Clarinbridge who once again failed to deliver in a titanic game. Jason Flynn, Cian Daniel's and Eanna Murphy were outstanding and they will fear neither Loughrea or Craughwell. Wonderful weather, good crowd and atmosphere in Athenry. Katser got it wrong re relegation - Cappy are not 'goosed' as with Liam Collins and Ja Mannion in great form, they delivered 4-24 against Moycullen's 0-17. Anyone know what the attendance was at Kenny Park today? Sounds like the County board may have gotten it spot on? Tommies will have all these Junior A players available for the final too. Will be interesting to see how many there are!! MoroonMan (Galway) - Posts: 61 - 17/10/2026 19:03:41 2697679 Link 2 |

It's 15 eur for each match or they had a weekend package of the 2 senior semi finals, 2 intermediate semis and theJunior A final for 55 eur. I dont know if it is sneaky but it is certainly clever from their pov in my opinion. There's plenty of exiled Galway hurling fans for whom the livestream is either the only or the cheapest option if they want to watch the matches so I reckon there is a strong demand for it and it is very much revenue generating for the county board. If the semi finals were a double header, the most they'd get away with charging is 20 eur I suspect, both at the turnstiles or on the livestream, or else there would be loud complaints from fans. So one way or the other they are gaining more income by not having them as a double header. Not saying that it is right but it does make sense from a revenue generating perspective. Stand full but loosely full say 1,500 + couple hundred outside stand behind wire on that side, dressing room end not more than 1,000, Slfo side terrace 70% full say 3,000. Blackcoatsoffthefield (Galway) - Posts: 41 - 18/10/2026 14:11:10 2697728 Link 1 |
