I am a big slater of Moycullens transfers, but after their performance at the weekend you have to say their homegrown boys are top tier too.
Dessie, Fionn, 3 Kellys, Daveron, Cooke - all quality

Dessie's workrate in last few mins was exceptional, even more impressive when you look up at the scoreboard and considering he is hounding lads down being 20+ points ahead

One negative - that goalie, for a handpicked keeper, they got a bit of a dud. Kicks it out like he is wearing wellies. Only for all the monsters they have out in the war zone those kickouts would catch out most teams.

They'll have to get busy in the transfer market again over the winter ;)

All joking aside, phenomenal team with quality all over the pitch

Yes, locals who are working abroad. Lots of people had to emigrate in the past but unfortunately couldn't return, especially west of the Corrib. Fair dues to them for coming to play for their club. There's no reasoning with jealousy!

Is Dylan Canney worth a punt in a Galway development squad but this time as a keeper? Probably the best of the 4 on display this weekend. Could be interesting.

Nice to see sanity rather than falsehoods and innuendo for a change on this tread.

No, not from what I saw, lumping the ball into the a cluster of people, sure that is what the Enda Colleran did back in the day. The keeper we should be looking at in addition to what we have is Kieran McDonagh (Caherlistrane).

What we have doesn't cut it, based on recent form. New options needed.

He wasn't great last weekend, but of course we shouldn't judge a player on one game. He passed the ball across his own goal straight to an Oranmore player who tapped it into an empty net from two yards. That's a mistake that can happen and you wouldn't expect it to be repeated.
On the fundamentals, it's hard to judge his kickouts as he has a massive target man to aim at, who has a height advantage over everyone at intermediate level. In saying that, possession was very even in the match. His long range frees weren't great either. He got one two pointer from the right, but was well off target with all of the others.

Agreed. Deserves his chance.
Time to forget about Flaherty he doesn't even play in goal for his club.
Gleeson deserves to be kept but would like to see Canney give him a run for his money. Superb under high ball and has many different various types of kickouts in his locker.

No joke, why would you think that? Canney was just hitting every kickout into a big cluster. Why wouldn't management look at young McDonagh.

McDonagh simply isnt at that level.
Short kickouts arent overly convincing.
I'd go with Eamonn McGrath and build with him. Give him the confidence. Tell him he will be playing unless form suggests he shouldnt.
This craic of swapping and never having a certain goalie, or at least one who people are unhappy with (and for good reason) has haunted Galway for a long time now.

It will be interesting to see if Fitzmaurice sees a place for Gleeson in the panel.

If canney is getting a trial in goal I see no reason as to why Barry mchugh from Mbmm shouldn't get a look in. His ball striking is immense and he's good in the air, also has played in high pressure environments for the county in the past. Just a thought……

Would have to agree here that McGrath was the best on show in senior championship was at their game v Annaghdown and when they pressed went over the top and if they left pockets he found the space, would also be impressed by Dylan Canney why not give him ago some call by there manager, I also think we need to change our mindset on GK if they aren't playing well they should be changed like out field players are, even if it's tactical we seem to be stuck on he's our number one we stick with him all the way, can't see Gleason making it I could be wrong but I'd say it could be a fresh start and if Eammon fitzmaurice is looking to work with someone for the next 3 years I don't think that would be Conor

No word as of yet on make up of backroom teams lots of rumours, think Dave Morris definitely back heard Johnson and rochford also hard see both as it mighr be 2 many chiefs. ,,, I'd imagine new manager will prib run trial games to see what players are out there prib only way 2 get a feel for it so I'd imagine within next 3 weeks something should start happening,,
